It's pretty much accepted that the ump was wrong. Telling a guy you have to earn the right to throw the ball back to the pitcher? Really? Doesn't matter if Martin is a douchebag, it's still petty and unprofessional.

Martin said the only thing that bothered him was he likes to keep his arm loose by thriwing the balls out when men are on base. Otherwise he was pretty laughable about the comical nature of the entire thing. Its pretty silly.
Oh it's definitely silly, it should never have happened. And Martin acted like an idiot afterwards saying he should have shown the ump his Gold Glove patch. All around it's ridiculous. The difference is that it's not in a player's job description to be impartial.

I didn't say he broke a rule, I said he was petty and unprofessional. Could be a rule or not, I have no idea, but that's not the issue as far as I'm concerned.

I still dont see anything unprofessional, you dont say what is unprofessional and why, and the way I see it theres no issue here.

Yeah I figured it was bad news when he changed his delivery for this season. I ended up with him on one team somehow and it's been frustrating. He's looking more and more like only a spot-starter.

If you wanna see unprofessional umpiring, watch the Yankees @ Tigers. Villareal is pitching and with runner(s) on base, he never comes to a complete halt, so clearly trying to deceive the runner(s). It's a quick pitch which is a balk. Yet no umpire calls it. And I rarely see that called. And thats unprofessional.
