Who to Trade? WHIR

Postby bcrossnf » Tue May 29, 2012 10:35 pm

Standard Y! 5x5 H2H

There's a guy in my league who keeps trying to trade me Joey Votto, likely because my team name is Grand Theft Votto. Problem is he keeps offering me lopsided trades. Any suggestions on what I should offer to get him?

My team:
C Miguel Montero
1B James Loney
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B Brett Lawrie
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Curtis Granderson
OF Dayan Viciedo
OF Willie Bloomquist
Util Alex Rios
Util David Ortiz
BN Michael Brantley
BN Lance Berkman
BN Matt Kemp

SP David Price
SP Mat Latos
RP Jason Motte
RP Santiago Casilla
P Wandy Rodriguez
P Addison Reed
P Sean Burnett
P Justin Masterson
BN Andy Pettitte
BN Homer Bailey
DL Drew Storen

His Team:

C Brian McCann
1B Joey Votto
2B Jemile Weeks
3B Jed Lowrie
SS Elvis Andrus
OF Adam Jones
OF Andre Ethier
OF Josh Reddick
Util Matt Adams
Util Carlos Lee
BN Will Middlebrooks
BN Kelly Johnson
BN Yoenis Cespedes
DL Evan Longoria

SP Zack Greinke
SP CC Sabathia
RP Jonathan Papelbon
RP Fernando Rodney
P Scott Downs
P Casey Janssen
P Josh Beckett
P Josh Johnson
BN Mark Buehrle
BN Sergio Santos

Would greatly appreciate some suggestions guys!! And will definitely help in return!

Thanks!

I would probably offer Granderson and then another piece like Ortiz or maybe a closer. Problem is that he is probably over-valuing Votto and you might have to overpay for him. Granderson is the only guy I would think about dealing that has a big enough name that you might be able to get something done with. I wouldn't trade a starter because you don't have enough depth there and I wouldn't move Pedroia unless you can get a solid 2B in return.

Thanks for the advice!

He just offered me Votto, Adam Jones, Longoria & Middlebrooks for Granderson, Kemp & Lawrie. What do you guys think?

Kemp = Votto (I like Kemp more but this kind of injury can linger and he might be headed back to the DL)
Granderson > Longoria (but only because Longoria is hurt. Once Longoria gets back i like Longoria slightly more)
Lawrie < Jones and Middlebrooks

Pretty fair deal but tough one to accept. I could go either side here so it is probably more of how comfortable you are doing this deal. You could use a better 1B but losing two OF will hurt. Very tough call IMO.
