big trade need help WHIR

Postby yankees25 » Thu May 24, 2012 12:50 am

ok, so I'm in need of a spark for my team, which for the past 7 days has been hitting about .160 to .230avg. I came up with this trade:

me:

James Shields
Adam Jones (he has been begging me for this guy)

for

Edwin Encarnacion (really need a 3rd baseman)
Ryan Braun

do you think this is presentable? Let me know

C: Carlos Santana (C/1B)
1B: Carlos Lee (1B/OF)
2B: Robinson Cano (2B)
3B: Daniel Murphy (1B,2B,3B)
SS: Starlin Castro (SS)
2B/SS: Jose Altuve (2B)
1B/3B: Bryan LaHair (1B/OF)
OF: Michael Bourn (OF)
OF: Adam Jones (OF)
OF: Mike Trout (OF)
OF: Josh Hamilton (OF)
OF: Alejandro De Aza (OF)
UTIL: David Ortiz (DH)
Bench: Matt Wieters
DL:Ryan Howard (1B)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
P: Zack Greinke
P: Jon Lester
P: Jake Peavy
P: Lance Lynn
P: Cliff Lee
P: Doug Fister
P: James Shields
P: Tim Hudson
RP: Craig Kimbrel
RP: Jim Johnson
RP: Kenley Jansen

i wouldn't accept your offer if i'm on the other side. in a shallow format i don't want to give the best player (braun) or give up a must-start player (e5) at a shallow position (3b). adam jones is a future star but you want braun in his prime. i doubt jones has reach his prime this young. i think the vast majority of owners would want braun over jones and consider the difference significant. and there's no way i'm giving up a hot 3b who we've been waiting to break out for years for a pitcher.

If you can make this happen it's a no brainer. take encarnacion out of the deal and it's still good for you. take it in a heartbeat.

If you can get a consensus top 3 player at any position, make the deal.

Shields will be a top 20 SP, Jones will be a top 20 OF by the end of the year.

You'd be essentially stealing Braun with E5 included (possibly a top 5 3B)

I agree you should do the trade but I disagree that Jones is a Top 20...I think he is breaking out and will be Top 10 this year....

Yeah you do that if you need a 3b. Braun is a clear upgrade at worst if you believe in Jones a slight push.

If this was offered to you, accept it immediately.

If you are proposing this, be prepared to be declined. Braun is being Braun. Top 2 fantasy stud, and will probably be #1 when the year is over.
