Catcher, OF-5, UTL

Postby MadDog36 » Mon May 21, 2012 6:20 pm

My team is seriously dragging in power/XBH/RBI cats I won last year. Help me, problem is there's nothing in FA much.
I need to drop Pastornicky/Colvin/something for a big bat

Here is the limited options:
Salty - dump Avila for Salty? He'd add some pop to my lineup.
Pedro Alvarez - then would hit my BA/OBP!
David Murphy
Dexter Fowler
Justin Smoak
Trevor Plouffe
Gordon Beckham
Danny Espinosa
Rajai Davis (need an OF and maybe one more boost to my speed to maintain my lead here - but its XBH/power I really need)
John Jay (stash him away for later)

Recommend someone!
C Alex Avila, Det C
1B Adrian Gonzalez, Bos 1B
2B Ian Kinsler, Tex 2B
3B Adrian Beltre, Tex 3B
SS Troy Tulowitzki, Col SS
2B/SS Elliot Johnson, TB SS
1B/3B Jose Bautista, Tor 3B, OF
OF Nelson Cruz, Tex OF
OF Michael Bourn, Atl OF
OF Jason Heyward, Atl OF
OF Tony Campana, ChC OF
OF EMPTY!
UTIL Tyler Colvin, Col OF
Bench Tyler Pastornicky, Atl SS S
DL Desmond Jennings*, TB OF DL15

Man, slim pickins. I'd say Murphy if I knew he'd get PT.

Salty looking good but hard to advise dropping Avila yet. Beckham showing some pop so he's tempting. Someone in there i think.

Man that's rough, but you have Jennings coming back.... I would drop Pastornicky for Salty. Keep Avila and play Salty at UT.

Also is it a keeper? Are there guys like Rizzo, Matt Adams, Yan Gomes out there?

I agree with this post right here. Salty should add the pop your looking for. But I'm gonna hang my neck out here a bit and say I'd almost consider taking a flier on El Toro here. Sure your BA and OBP might take a hit, but if you can balance your line up right it just might be worth the risk. Pedro is a very streaky player, everyone owns him when he's hot and everyone drops him when he's cold. We got a good glimpse of that hot streak about 2-3 weeks ago and he was an absolute beast (17 hits in 43 ABs, 5 HRs, 4 2Bs all in about a 14 day frame). But when he's cold, is CRAZY cold.

Espinosa is turning it on, and he has shown excellent potential for XBH/HR, especially for MI. I would drop Pastornicky for him in a heartbeat.

New developments:

Matt Joyce dropped...any flier here?
Put in claim to dump Colvin for Joyce (hope I get him!)

El Toro you mean Espinosa?
Snagged Espinosa for Pastor!

Dayan Viciedo is available.
Zach Cozart (Who I am high on - he's got some pop and speed)
Adam Lind (yes he could surprise a lot of folks)
Stash Cody Ross on open DL slot?
Alex Rios is also available too.

Shudder I dumped JJ Hardy after he went a month & half ice cold. Shouldn't have.
Haven't picked up Salty yet I'd prefer just one catcher on my roster.
I am a bit laoded on MRP/RP since we use K/9 hold and saves.

Check and see how much playing time Davis has been getting, and if it's sufficient, I might go with him. Another good target is Espinosa. He's been pretty nice at the plate lately and has some pretty good upside.

Thanks for looking at mine. I am no expert on a league as deep as yours. I think you have some players that by the end of the year that are going to put up good power numbers.
I like the idea of looking at some deeper minor league guys who potentially come up.

I actually like Jon Jay if you believe he comes back soon and Dexter Fowler if he starts (I think he will).
