12 team, H2H, standard stat, 9 keepers each year. Currently sitting next to last after my hitters stumbled out of the gate and my opponent had Hamilton last week.
I want to drop one player to add C Friedrich (SP - Col).
C - Lucroy 1B - MCab 2B - Phillips 3B - Zimmerman SS - A Escobar OF - Braun OF - J Upton OF - Holliday Util - Dunn B - A Gordon (currently platooning Gordon/Dunn at Util according to matchup)
SP - Beachy, Moore, Lilly, Fister, Smyly, Samardzija RP - Betancourt, Johnson, Capps, Downs, Thayer DL - S Santos, D Hudson
I'm looking to add C Friedrich for his start against SEA this week and to bolster my staff. I'm thinking the only guy worth dropping is Downs or Thayer but I'd be giving up a closer (they are hot commodities this season, especially in this league) which I don't want to do. I don't think I can spare to drop a different starter as all of them are playing quite well other than Moore. This is a keeper so I cannot drop Moore.
Please help - who should I drop?
Leave a link - WHIR always, probably within 24 hrs.

your worse player valuewise is smyly.....who is similar to the guy u want to pick up....i say they are about even but since its a keeper i would drop smyly for him
I'm far from an expert, but I'll weigh in anyway. I just dropped D. Gordon in my league. All he's good for is steals, and he stopped getting on base the last couple weeks. Was hitting about .114 over the 2 weeks prior to when I dropped him. Plus he's gotten caught stealing a fair amount.
I still needed steals so I added Bonifacio (sp) or whatever. He gets steals plus he can actually hit.

FWIW.
Alex Gordon, not Dee. Sorry for the confusion (edited original post).
I most certainly wouldn't drop a closer, especially in a 12 team league. I'd rather see you try to trade one for something than set him to waivers. Your OF is very deep. Why not see if you can package a guy like Gordon and a closer for a decent starter? Depending on what's available off WW, perhaps you could pick up another bat to offset the loss of Gordon. Just a thought.
I would drop Smyly. Even if they're all doing well, I don't think you need more starters. And if your hitting staff is hurting, I wouldn't drop the one guy on the bench who's platooning with someone else. Then you wouldn't have any flexibility there.
i wouldnt make any move for him. Smyly is your worse player but i think is better then friedrich. i have had both on my team from there starts of the season. Smyly has pitched well vs Rays, Yankees, and Rangers- 3 of the best lineups in the AL and also pitches in tiger stadium where friedrich pitches in Denver.
