Asdrubal Cabrera Trade Value?

Postby JRM4833 » Wed May 16, 2012 5:53 pm

An owner in my AL only, roto keeper league (auction style) is pushing hard for Asdrubal who can be extended for another three years. What is good value for him? Matt Moore, Mike Moustakas or Jason Kipnis (all in slightly better contracts)?

Certainly Moore and Moustakas, as I think Moore will sort things out sometime in the summer and be better long term value than Cabrera. Kipnis for Cabrera might just end up as a wash, but at least you'd be getting younger. I think any of the three would be a fine enough exchange, though try pushing to get a little more from the other guy if he is "pushing hard". Maybe sell Moore's slow start to get something else included with Moore if you like him.

This is a little late, but thanks for the reply and the in depth response. It turns out that he wants more than Asdrubal for Moore. He offered Moore and two fillers for Asdrubal, Masterson and Benoit. Given that Moore is in the first year of a 5 year contract (Asdrubal is in year 2), I may end up paying the price.
