Who would you rather have? WHIR

Postby da bears » Wed May 16, 2012 10:46 am

9 man keeper league and the round drafted stays the same as long as the player is kept. This seems a bit like a no brainer but we do CF/LF/RF instead of OF slots. Would you rather have....
Hosmer 22nd round
Lester 9th
Trout 8th(eligible at all 3 OF slots)

Team is sort of rebuilding so the neat few yrs are equally weighted to me. Thanks for your help and leave a link I'll get back to you

I'd take Hosmer, I think he's going to be a stud for years to come.

I only get to pick 1? If thats the case, I would take Hosmer since he is a little more proven. If Bryce Harper finishes with a good season, I would def take him though.

Depending on whether or not Trout keeps his eligibility at all 3 spots, his value could be very high, even in the 8th round.

Think of it this way--there's no penalty for the round you keep them, and the round never raises. How long is the keep for? Because within 2-3 years, having Trout for the 8th with eligibility in all three OF spots is a pretty big deal. He could eventually be a first round pick (Upton, CarGo, etc.)

I don't know if Hosmer ever becomes something like that...I think he's great and all, I just think Trout's fantasy contribution ceiling is higher, that's all.

With all that said, Hosmer in the 22nd is a hell of a deal. I'm just making sure Trout gets his fair share of the discussion.

What about Bryce?

I like Trout more than Bryce personally, but Bryce is also good value. I think I'd rather keep one of those two over Hosmer, only because I feel like OF is harder to come by. Would Harper get eligibility at all three positions? That'd be good to know.

It's standard yahoo eligibility so for next year Trout needs to start 3 more in left to keep that and 4 more in right. Bryce will keep the corner OF slots.

The keeper is forever so as long as the league keeps going. Situation is I have extra pitchers at great value and can land one of Hosmer/Trout/Bryce. I've been leaning Trout/Hosmer cause I don't have a solid guy in Center or at 1st.

Well, I think I'd rather have Trout for eternity at the 8th round than Hosmer for the 22nd. I know Hosmer is crazy value in the 22nd round, but I think Trout could eventually be a number one overall type of fantasy pick. I'd rather have that upside, even if I'm giving up really good value in the process.
