Morrow / Peavy / Garza for Craig or Joyce...WHIR

Postby alexeroberts » Tue May 15, 2012 10:17 pm

11 team 5x5 "keep your 5 best"...1650 IP limit, and I am on pace for 1900

I have deep pitching: Kershaw, Sabathia, Hanson, Garza, Wainwright, Morrow, Hanrahan, Chapman B-Sale, B-McCarthy B-Capuano, B-Peavy, DL-Santos....

My offense has been putrid recently: c-Posey, 1b-Hosmer, 2b-Pedroia, 3b-Starlin, ss-Headley, ci-Ike, mi-Hill, of-Kemp, of-Victorino, of-Hart, of-BJ of-Upton, of-Boesch, and u-Morneau. B-Torres, DL-Reynolds

I am 1st or 2nd in K, WHIP, ERA and W. falling fast in offensive categories. i think hosmer / reyonlds / boesch / ike will start hitting at some point, but i can't wait much longer, and hitters are always more tradable than pitchers in this league... have three offers on the table:

1) Garza for Allen Craig
2) Morrow for Joyce
3) Peavy for Joyce + 9th round pick next year (post keeper rounds)

I am torn. I love Craig. But I also like the Peavy deal and am not sure which to do. Thinking about both which would still leave me with 8 SP + Chapman and 2 closers which is just fine for this league. Need some high-end analysis. Thoughts??

I honestly think you can get more for all of those guys, ESPECIALLY Peavy. I would make a low-ball offer to someone if you want to move Peavy (maybe try to get Beltran or McCutchen) first, and see if they bite, and if they don't just lower your price a little...you could try to get a good SS too.

If it were my team I'm trying to move Peavy for a quality OF, and then either Garza or Morrow for a decent SS (maybe Jimmy Rollins while he's still cold)

I also leave Craig. That's the deal I'd take.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I would have to think you could get more for either Peavy or Morrow and I would pursue that direction. Garza could be traded and give you 2 months on a winning team which would be nice. I don't think Craig keeps up his production and they still have Cox and Adams that they could bring up and cut into time.

Craig would be great. But I'd try to shop Peavy for Craig before Garza.

If I were you, I would definitely trade Peavy. You would be selling high and when you factor his injury history and inconsistency I believe he is a your highest risk player. In addition, he has pitched great so far so you should be able to get something good for him. I would have to agree with some of the other guys here though when I suggest that I think you should be able to get better than Joyce for Peavy. Aim higher, but definitely move Peavy. Hope this helps.

Help with mine?

Craig doesn't actually have a job. I know he is hitting a ton, but he only play corner outfield and 1b. The Cardinals have Holliday/Beltran/Berkman at those spots. I know they take days off and get hurt, but sporadic playing time from a fairly unknown commodity is not what you should be getting in return for good pitchers like that. Shoot higher on the bats your target or lower your offer for Craig.
