Value of Granderson in Keeper League?

Postby absolutphil » Tue May 15, 2012 11:11 am

I play in a H2H Keeper League on Yahoo.
12 teams - 25 man rosters
We keep between 5 (min) and 10 (max) keepers every year.

I've been shopping Granderson and I don't seem to be getting any good offers. I'm starting to wonder if I am over-valuing Grandy?

Bolded are my Keepers
My roster is this:
C: Ellis (just lost Ramos)
1B: Butler, Howard (DL)
2B: Infante, Espinosa
3B: Seager, Sandoval (DL)
IF: Duda
LF: C. Ross, J.D. Martinez
CF: McCutchen
RF: Choo
OF: Granderson
UTL: Pagan
SP: Hamels
SP: I. Kennedy
SP: Garza
P: D. Hudson (DL)
P: Niese
P: Norris
RP: Venters
RP: Romo
P: Delgado
P: Friedrich
P: Vargas
P: Danks

1. My goal was to shop Granderson for a top 2B since I am weak in that position. I tried Granderson for Pedroia but the manager wanted more than just Granderson for Pedroia. Is that a fair assessment?

2. I've been offered M. Young for Granderson plus an upgrade in draft picks for the 2013 season.

3. I've been offered Zobrist/Wainwright for Granderson.

4. I've been offered Haren/Victorino for Grandy.

5. What about Cain/C.Crawford for grandy?

Are these deals fair? Maybe it's just me, but I feel Granderson is worth more. Especially in a keeper league.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

in my league granderson went for mccutchen/helickson.

people still dont understand that granderson is tailor made for yankee stadium. he will continue to hit 40 HR while he is in a yankee uniform.

if the guy didnt do grand for pedoria then i would just stop dealing with him. you should have been the one that wants more.

i wouldnt do any of those trades offered to you, i would try to get cano straight up for grandy right now.

I'd shoot for a Kinsler and top closer maybe Kimbrel for him IF you have to deal him.

Personally in my league I tried packaging him with a pitcher for Cargo, Braun, Ellsbury, Bautista, and Stanton pre season and pretty much everyone wanted him and Cliff Lee for one of those guys. I think a lot of people do undervalue him. Dont get rid of him unless you can get a 1st or 2nd round 2nd baseman like Cano, Pedrioa, Kinsler. I am buying the start on Kipnis so maybe him and a top pitcher

When doing these kind of trades, you have to look at team needs as well. The guy with Pedroia, does he have another 2B? How strong is his OF? He isn't going to trade a top 2B for OF if he will weaken his team too much to make the deal. Personally, I wouldn't trade Pedroia for Granderson either but that is because in my league I need a 2B more than I need an OF and Pedroia has a much better track record (even though Granderson seems to be built for Yankee Stadium).

I think you are expecting about the right kind of player but you might have to do a 2-2 deal to help shore a weakness for the other team.

Thanks for the advice!

The owner who has Pedroia also has Hill, not an elite 2B but serviceable. I'm thinking the value of a top flight 2B is high in my league!

I think I'll just hold on to him for now. If he keeps up his current pace his value will also rise as other owners (hopefully) see that last year was not a fluke.
