Cargo for Harper/Joe Nathan VETOed...do you agree?

A guy in a "jelly beans" league (non-keeper) wanted to trade me for Bryce Harper and a closer...we went back and forth and actually settled on Harper/Joe Nathan for CarGo. This trade was vetoed TWICE...is it really that unfair? Especially considering HE offered it to ME?

This is a Yahoo Pro league...to me this almost feels like cheating by vetoing it just because I'm in 2nd place and they don't want me to have CarGo.

It's a pretty terrible trade (elite player for 2 guys who are high risks for losing their job at any point, and not even approaching elite when healthy), but people unfortunately need to be able to make bad trades.

Is it an aweful trade? Yes. Should it be veto'd? No. Is it going to get veto'd in a majority of public single season leagues? yes

the other guy might be in love with harper and believe its a good deal for him (its not) and therefore it should be allowed even if bad but the majority of folks if they have a veto available are going to come at something like that with guns blazing

One of the guys that was openly against that trade just had his own trade for CarGo accepted (one that involves giving up Adam la Roche and Fernando Rodney)..if it goes through I'm going to flip out

Well, there ya go. The sharpest pitchforks in the veto mob often belong to managers who are jealous they didn't get a chance to strike the deal. At this point I'd say this: if the league is going to allow the new trade to go through, they have to unwind and put the first trade through. They're essentially value-equivalent.

not vetoing cause that guy thinks its unfair, vetoing it so he can get a shot at cargo for a discount

My question on these issues is always, "Why do you play in a league that allows vetoes of trades?"

It's just wrought with problems, guys voting against trades because it hurts their team in the standings, rather than because a trade is lopsided, voting against trades by certain owners because they don't like them, etc.

I quit playing in leagues that vote on trades yrs ago.........and will never go back.
