Pence-Upton Blockbuster WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Fri May 11, 2012 12:46 pm

He just offered me this. Accept this deal, Counter or Pass? Pence in final keeper year; BJ Upton can be kept thru 2014. But we only keep 6 players anyway.

He gives me: Hunter Pence, Yovani Gallardo and Kyle Drabek
I give him: BJ Upton, Ricky Romero and Jordan Zimmermann

I think a counter may be in order. Any suggestions?

I think id try to swap out Zim for Harrison or Parker, but it isnt an overall bad deal for you. I almost always counter though, people seem to always aim a little high in random offers that fly over.

help?

Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...

Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong

He proposed this --

I give: BJ Upton, Ricky Romero and Drew Smyly
I get: Hunter Pence and Yovani Gallardo

thoughts?

idk upton gives you 20/20 and ricky ro IMO is the most under rated pitcher in baseball. and your giving up a stud young pitcher in smyly.

i like upton better then pence and ricky better then gallardo. You have a lot of ricky haters on here so i feel a lot will tell you to do it but i wouldnt.

I don't really see what you gain from this trade. In terms of value it's relatively fair, but you're just swapping positions so... unless you're winning big or getting a guy you really want, it's not really worth it.

Is there a counter that would make the deal worth it to me? I do somewhat like Pence's consistency over Upton given this is H2H and I am saddled with some low average streakers like Stanton, Dunn and Upton...

Yes I agree with you here. Would be willing to swap Upton/Pence straight-up? Would you?

Well, Pence is in his final keeper year and Upton has 2 more after this, so it should be fair. And I doubt I keep him given my other options and the fact that I am strongly positioned for this year. But I know he fixates on pitchers I have too. He likes Jordan Zimmerman, Romero and Smyly in partic.

The way I see it, I gain singles, HR, 2B and consistency with Pence. I lose some BB and a fair amount of SB.

Thoughts on a way to make this work?
