Should I pick up Carlos Zambrano? He is pitching well and we all know is due for a meltdown but maybe the change of scenery is helping him. He looks awfully good right now and I don't want to be saying a few weeks from now, I knew I should of grabbed him....Let me know what you guys think and who would you drop...Also, McDonald from Pirates is out there. H2H points league and pitchers can score alot with this scoring format. I will help with yours if you leave your link.
1b- Hosmer 2b- Kipnis 3b- Arod SS- A. Cabrera C- M Montero OF- Cargo OF- Justin Upton OF Beltran DH- Dunn bench- Trout, Shin shoo Choo, Moustakas, Trumbo
SP- Cliff Lee SP- Shields SP- Romero SP- Strasburg SP- Wainwright SP- DHolland RP- Papelbon RP- League RP- Sale Bench- Johan Santana, Addison Reed, Heath Bell
I'd drop Trumbo for him probably - but I don't like having too many bench slots taken up by hitters. I hate the guessing game about who is going to have a good game anyway, but in your format in particular it doesn't make sense to have so many guys riding the pine. I'd also consider dropping Sale for McDonald given that Sale already is having elbow pain and an MRI and is out of the rotation. If he's not starting, his value is way down.
I still wouldn't want so many bats taking up roster slots that could be used for pitchers. If you have a broader stable of SPs than you can have active for the week, you can start them or sit them based on match ups for the week or two start status (even though several of your pitchers would be automatic starts every week). It's just a philosophical thing with me that I don't like hitters on the bench (to whatever extent anything in fantasy baseball can be "philosophical" )
I just picked up McDonald over Big Z in my league because of the K/9 factor. Z has 32K in 41 IP, McD has 31 in 36.2. McD has a favorable matchup vs Houston this week, too. I'd keep my eye on Z when he pitches at home in that big new flashy ballpark. In terms of who to drop, I wouldn't drop Sale until it's certain he is not closing or starting. MRI scheduled for today, so news should follow soon.
Don't drop Trumbo, with Hosmer being awful you need something from first base, I feel like you are hoarding a little, neither McDonald or Zambrano are better than anyone on your staff, Holland being the worst. Dump Sale if you have to have one of them, he's having MRI and reported shoulder problems, that's never good.
I think I leave Z on the wire as well. He is relying more than ever on the movement on his pitches. He has more movement on them, which is good. However, I think this would lead to pitches being more likely to miss the zone. I think his low walk totals his last few starts is a bit fluky.
If you can stash him though, it could be worth it. I think you could drop Trumbo for him. Or watch for any new news on Sale.
