LaHair for Jesus Montero

Postby Anicholsnj » Wed May 09, 2012 4:17 pm

Im in a 12 team roto league and was just offered his LaHair for my Jesus montero.... Was I wrong to turn this down???? Because I just watched LaHair single in another run. Do you believe LaHair's hot start can continue all year? I already have a solid catcher in carlos santana and have been using montero off and in one of two utility spots this league has.

We count Runs, HRs, RBI, SB's and AVG and these are my bats...

C-Santana
1b-freeman
2b- Neil walker
3b-prado
Ss- tulo
MI- Reyes
OF-Bourn
Of- Giancarlo
Of-victorino
Utility- jesus montero
Utility- mark Reynolds
Bench- tony campana
Bench- mike aviles

I drafted montero pretty late and was planning on dealing him at some point to a team in need at catcher. Time to cash in with LaHair??? Or would you hold out? He also has encanarcion and has been trying to deal him to another team this week.

If this isn't a keeper league I'd probably go with LaHair over Montero. LaHair obviously won't keep up his current pace, but I think he'll produce more this year than Montero who has very little plate discipline and plays in a terrible park for offense. Particularly since you aren't getting as much out of Montero's catching eligibility with Santana on your team. In a 12 team league it will be hard to get a lot for Montero since there won't be a shortage of catchers.

It's not a keeper league and I think you may be nudging me in the right direction. Should I counter for his encanarcion or would you rather have LaHair??? Thanks for the help!

I take LaHair over Encarnacion for sure. They're both playing better than the end of the year stats will show, but I think LaHair will have a better year.

I'd rather have LaHair...... The only Cat that I see Montero maybe being better in in the long run would be AVG..... But even that's not a guarantee.

LaHair for me. Montero lacks a bit of luster if not used at C. LaHair should provide more power in a better park and with more position flex (1B/OF). He'll cool from his hot start but the power is real.
