in 2010 at AA in 388 AB he had 11 HR and 19 SB, then at AAA in 88 AB he had 4 HR and 3 SB.
in 2011 at AAA in 157 AB he had 7 HR and 12 SB
minor league career in 1141 AB he had this line- .292/.351/.430/.782
I'm guessing Dirks was pinch hit by Leyland because Dirks is left handed and there was a left handed pitcher on the mound. but it's not like Dirks isn't as good from the left.
12 vs LHP- 12 AB - 333/.429/.583.1.012
12 vs RHP- 54 AB - .389/.421/.667/1.088
11 vs LHP- 12 AB - .323/.323/.548/.871
11 vs RHP- 188 AB - .239/.292/.383/.675
from what I remember Jim Leyland doesn't change his lineup unless it's necessary, so even if Dirks is in a slump he wouldn't removed Dirks quickly.
There is nothing above average about a .430 SLG and a .138 ISO. Those numbers look very average to me.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dirks develop some more power at this age. We saw it with guys like Drew Stubbs who didn't have a history of power numbers in the minors but then went on to show decent power in his first two years in the league.

Cut bait today for JD Martinez. I think Boesch gets moved back to #2 shortly.

Because "they" are jim leyland and Dirks doesnt play 2b.

Boesch had his chance, and he blew it.
Dirks just in the 2 spot has these numbers- .324 AVG/ .398 OBP. he's not going to be replaced with those numbers.
the only way Dirks wont be in the lineup in the 2 spot is if he has the day off.
That's great that you have that much confidence in him. There's no way to say who is right or wrong at this point.
My opinion is that he doesn't have the track record to support the early numbers and he WILL slump at some point this season, probably soon. When that happens we will see how much confidence that Leyland has in him. Dirks' strikeouts are on the rise and Boesch has been on fire. We'll see what happens next.
