Middlebrooks has kept the heart barely beating on my keeper team with Pujols, Hanley, J. Upton, and Hosmer doing everything they can to kill it. If they send him down I'll start digging the hole in the ground.
When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room...is for fun.
I was going to drop him for Carlos Quentin coming off the DL but he has been so good for the last week-10 days. Now I dont know what to do.. stash him while he is in the minors? I have Duda, Lomo, Chipper and Middlebrooks... hmmmm.
Stash him. You know if there's one organization that's known for making boneheaded moves like this then making a knee jerk reaction to media and fan outcries its the RedSox organization. If Youk doesn't re-injure himself first Middlebooks will be back in the very near future regardless.
SSS explains Middlebrooks success so far. Even if he held down a starting position all year his numbers would look mediocre the rest of the way. He has good power but poor plate discipline and that usually leads to some really long rough patches during the first couple of seasons.

I agree. Now is the time to decide to sell or hold on Middlebrooks. I'm selling if I can get something useful in return.

I'd say yes. I can see myself making that trade both ways depending on depth.

I thought that we should revisit this topic now that things have cooled off a bit. My overall assessment of Middlebrooks is that his plate discipline needs some work, and he is very aggressive in situations where he should be, but better pitchers are exploiting his overly aggressive nature by thowing off the plate and getting young Will to chase. He does however sport some serious pop and a full season with his potential could yield upwards of 30 homers. After watching him quite a bit, what excites me is how hard he rips the ball on the screws for singles, doubles etc. He also gives us great positional eligibility and isnt afraid to run a little.
Overall I am going to hang on to him in my keeper league because I think that he may be what my Sawx need and the changing of the guard is imminent. Youk will most likely be shopped to make room for Will.
