Beachy/Gardner for McCutchen? WHIR

Postby sixer03fan » Mon May 07, 2012 2:00 pm

Hey guys, I was just offered this trade:

I receive: Andrew McCutchen and Cory Luebke
I give away: Brandon Beachy and Brett Gardner

I realize that Luebke is probably looking at TJ surgery, so you can essentially throw him out of the deal, but I still believe this is an intriguing offer. Beachy has been great this year, continuing on his quite success of last year, and Gardner will be back this week off of the DL, so I'm not concerned about any lingering injury issues there. I like what Gardner can give me as a third OF or utility player with the runs/stolen bases, but he is incredibly one dimensional.

On the other hand, I have a chance to get McCuthen, who I have always liked, despite the fact that he plays in a pretty putrid lineup. He's a 5-tool stud, reminds me of a Justin Upton. He'd be a welcome addition to my team, and I think I have more than enough starting pitching to surrender Brandon Beachy for him. I'm licking my chops at the thoughts of having an OF of Bruan-Stanton-McCutchen, with Howard at the utility spot when he comes back. My lineup has some serious fire power.

I'm leaning towards taking this deal... Thoughts? Should I consider making a counter offer to get a better deal? My roster is below... Leave a link and I'll respond. Thanks!

Leubke is probably done for the year, but I would accept it anyway. You have plenty of pitching.

I think you've gotta do it. As much as I like the guys you're giving, you can't pass on McCutchen st that price. Thanks for the help on mine.

Yeah I love McCutchen I would certainly take this trade. Like you, and the other posters have said, your pitching is solid enough so you won't be regretting surrendering Beachy. I would do it.

i try to counter with a different SP i think beachy is the 4th best pitcher on your team and think you can get away with replacing him with latos/hellickson/scherzer
