I have to admit I'm a little gunshy on Jonathan Niese after he blew up his last turn. I'm strongly considering streaming Edinson Volquez though, as his home splits look mighty good. Samardzija might also be worth a turn if he's unowned in your league. Thoughts?

I wasn't sure where to add this, figured todays game day thread would fit.
Ryan Hanigan is batting just .286/.355/.321 this year. And yet, for whatever reason, he continues to draw more playing time than the younger and more talented Devin Mesoraco. Hanigan has started 16 games at catcher this year for the Reds. Mesoraco has started only 11.
I like Volquez for a stream. He has been really good in his 5 starts at home. He does have 2 Ls but has a 2.25 ERA 1.00 WHIP .170 BAA 31 Ks and only 13 BB. Plus COL has been getting crushed in their last 5 games giving up 7, 8, 9, 13 and 7 runs in their last 5 games.

They're calling it general soreness, but it's still a risky proposition. I would think most people would have a decent option to fill in and would be better off playing it safe.

I hate to say it, but it sounds to me like Werth is expendable. He didn't have a great year last year, he hasn't come out like gangbusters this year, and you've probably already maxed out your DL space. Depending on what's out there, I'm probably dropping Werth if I'm in your spot. Possibly even Luebke, as the TJ talk likely means he isn't going to come back and dominate even if they do figure out how to manage the injury.
Kind of annoying that the front end of the Cleveland doubleheader is delayed... anyway...
After Cashner and Moore cost me last week in my H2H Points League, today I'm trotting Jeff Samardzija against the Braves, hoping they're more K happy than HR happy today.
Would love an update on Scott Downs' injury, but can't seem to find any anywhere
