rotoworld.
Updating an earlier item, Desmond Jennings left Sunday's game in the third inning with left knee soreness. It wasn't obvious when Jennings suffered the injury, so we're guessing it's not serious and the Rays are just playing it safe, but we'll update you on his status when more is known. Elliot Johnson moved to left field to replace Jennings, with Will Rhymes taking Johnson's spot at second base.
Baltimore has a terrible infield defense. Actually let me amend that, Mark Reynolds is soooo terrible at third, he makes the entire defense absolutely terrible.

Considering Middlebrooks is better defensive third baseman and is hitting better, they should try to find a way to keep Middlebrooks at third. Youkilis might find himself in left.

They have 140 million already tied up into left field but at this point, the best solution is to let Middlebrooks stay at third and then figure out how to handle a Youk/Ellsbury/Crawford outfield when they get back. It seems crazy to block a top prospect from his natural position when the current guy there can't handle the position physically. Is there any legit talk to moving Youk to the outfield? They should clearly buy out his contract next year too, even more reason not to let him stay at 3B in what looks like a lost season.
They could just let Youk lumber in RF rather than shifting Crawford, he's not going anywhere for a long time.

Well Crawford is not due back for awhile. I haven't heard anything from the organization, about moving Youk, but he has played there in the past, albeit only occasionally.
