All - once again I come calling to the experts for some input.
I have Jose Valverde and as a Tigers fan, in my opinion, he is not going to be a worthy closer for much longer. I've been offered Matt Capps and Jonathon Broxton for Valverde. I'm tempted to take it, but I already have a wealth of RP's. The problem is, I feel like there's a decent chance that two of the three aren't closing by the end of this season, let alone next season.
I have 5 RP spots and 1 P spot. Currently they are filled by Rodney, Dotel, Motte, Hanrahan, Valverde and Downs. We keep stats for W/L, saves, outs, H, HR, BB, K, SVOP, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/9.
What are your thoughts on the trade? It's a keeper league with no restrictions on who to keep...30 man rosters, keep 20 each year. I'm tempted to take it and try and flip one of my closers for a starting pitcher, but I'm not sure.
I think that's good value for Valverde and would likely take it... unless you're able to parlay Valverde into the SP you're wanting. I'd throw out a couple feelers to see if anyone will give a SP for Valverde and if there's no interest in a day or two then I'd take that deal.
