Blockbuster trade, help is much appreciated. WHIR always

Postby Lord of the Swing » Wed May 02, 2012 7:18 pm

Hello all,

Just need help with a trade that's sitting on the table. My league is a 8 team H2H, with pretty much all categories under the sun for both batters and pitchers. My friend is gunning hard for my CarGo, and he's willing to trade his Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia for my CarGo and Brandon Phillips. I LOVE CARGO on my team, but I think this trade might be too good to pass up. Your help would be really helpful, since he tends to remove his trade proposals within a day or so. Like always, WHIR, just include your link. Thanks!

EDIT: I mean ADRIAN Gonzalez, NOT Alex, sorry.

My current line-up:
C: Alex Avila
1B: Pujols
2B: Phillips
3B: Aramis Ramirez
SS: Aviles
OF: Carlos Gonzalez
OF: Mccutchen
OF: Jay Bruce
UTIL: LaHair
UTIL: Weeks
BN: Reimold, Jimmy Rollins, Dee Gordon, Chris Davis
DL: Morse, Utley

SP: Kershaw, Strasburg, Bumgarner, Hellickson, Saunders
RP: JJ Putz, Fernando Rodney

I have to agree. That would be an easy reject for me also.

Oooh, personally I would at least think about it.
Pedroia has carried my teams in the past, so perhaps I have a soft spot for him. He's great.
In the end though, I would struggle with this one, and would ultimately pass because your outfield
would start looking weak. If you had another strong OF along with CarGo, I would.
I say no by a hair.

Not a big fan of the trade for you. If it was a big upgrade at first (like if you had Youk there or something) but you have 1st covered. Try to upgrade elsewhere if you can. Maybe 3rd or closer if you are into that sort of thing.

Overall, its a no. but player value is pretty close, the need is just not there. I had Cargo ranked #15 and Adrian at #9. Pedroia at #20 and Phillips at #52. so you would "win" the value but in an 8 team league I think he would need to blow you away in the trade.

Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...

Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong
