Well with Youk getting placed on the DL this afternoon I need to fill his spot. There's only a few decent players on the WW so which one of these guys do you like the best?
Jed Lowrie, Hou SS, 3B Pedro Alvarez, Pit 3B Ty Wigginton, Phi 3B, 1B, OF Placido Polanco, Phi 3B Scott Rolen, Cin 3B
I would probably go Wigginton. Best average, even if it comes down a bit as time goes on, and at least comparable RBI, runs and HR to the others on the list. Plus he's got a lot of flexibility position wise. He'd be my pickup.
C Wieters 1B Freeman 2B Pedroia 3B M. Cabrera SS Castro MI Kipnis CI Konerko OF CarGo Gordon Allen Trout Morse Ellsbury(DL) UT Butler
SP Greinke McCarthy Gonzalez Hammel Bumgarner J.Johnson Samardzija RP Street Chapman Aceves Soriano
I'd say if you are looking for mainly just power with a crappy ave., then Alvarez is your guy. But if you want the best overall player, it's definitely Lowrie. When he isn't injured he is actually very good. He's healthy right now, he'd be my pick. If he gets hurt, most likely those other guys will still be there anyways.

If you need some pop, then Alvarez is your man. He has been looking pretty nice lately, might want to ride it out? I would also definitely be interested in Middlebrooks. He is raking in AAA and in the best lineup.
I'd personally give Middlebrooks a shot. Fenway is a major hitters park and he will have more opportunities to score runs/drive in runs there than someone like Pedro Alvaraz, who hits in a neutral/pitcher friendly park with a bad lineup around him.

Wigginton primarily due to position flexibility, then Lowrie, then Alvarez. But as some mentioned, if you need power Alvarez is your guy. I can see him hitting 30 this yr.
