Alex Rodriguez for Encarnacion and Markakis? WHIR ALWAYS

Postby ATLbraves » Wed May 02, 2012 4:44 pm

I was offered this trade 2 weeks ago, and I posted it on here. Everyone told me not to do it b/c I was losing the best player in the trade, which I agree with. But I wanted to repost this just to see what you guys think about it now that Encarnacion has been playing out of his mind.

Alex Rodriguez for Edwin Encarnacion and Nick Markakis.

Should I re-consider this trade now, or would I just be falling for the early season hype? I do think Edwin will fall back down to earth, but if he can stay healthy he can definitely have a very solid season with 25+ HR's and 85+ RBI's.

I would not do it. Encarnacion has been hot before. He always comes back to reality at some point.

I mean, he could stay this hot all year, yes, that's true. But do you really want to give up one of the best players in the league on a chance (when history suggests Encarnacion won't stay that hot all year)? Not worth it IMO.

Congrats to the manager who drafted him or picked up off the WW. But I don't presently see any reason to give this a second guess.

I don't love it. I am not sold that ARod will have all that much more value than EE but I think he is a better bet. Plus I am not a Markakis fan so if you could get someone different than him, I very well might do the deal.

What if I could get Nick Swisher instead of Markakis?
