I don't think that the Mariners calling up Ramirez necessarily eliminates Hultzen from call-up consideration in the near future, but the earliest i imagine Hultzen being called up would be after the all-star break.

Any guesses at which pitcher will be called up next? Seems like Bauer has been a rumored call-up for more than a month. How close is Shelby Miller?

Miller is probably looking at a Sept call-up unless there are additional injuries to the Cardinal staff. Joe Kelly was called up instead of Shelby when Jaime Garcia went to the DL. Carpenter is about 3-5 weeks away barring a set back. There really isn't room for Miller right now. A Bauer call up is much more likely. Teams also need to wait for the Super 2 deadline to pass by.Teams are going to be cautious.

Top Prospect Alert ‏@MinorLeagueBlog
#Reds Billy Hamilton with 5 stolen bases tonight. He now has 80 Stolen Bases on the season.

he's only playing in A+ so I wouldn't expect a call up any time soon. but what are the chances he gets a September call up?
last year he played the entire season in A level where he had 103 SB. so I would think it's unlikely. but damn this guy must be fast.
are the Reds being slow with promoting this guy through the minors? this year only in A+ but he's already 21 years old. (22 in September).

I don't think the Reds are being slow with Hamilton. He had a .700 OPS last year in low A and probably didn't deserve a promotion. Most teams allow players to finish the half season before promoting them and I'm guessing he's due a promotion at the AS break. The SB's are awesome but I'm still wary of his bat. The Cal league makes the PCL look like a pitchers league.

He could be a Sept callup as a designated base stealer. Possibly even before so he would be postseason eligible.

I wouldn't use OPS to value Hamilton. he's not that type of hitter. he gets on base and has speed to steal. his OBP last year wasn't great at .340 but he's at .403 this year and he has a minor league career .352 OBP.
one of the best base stealers of all time is Vince Coleman, but he has a major league career .668 OPS.
is there a big difference in A to A+? last year he was in A, now this year A+. couldn't he have started this year in AA. at his current pace he looks like he's about 3-4 years away.

My point was that last year at age 21 in low A he wasn't exactly pushing for a promotion using any metric except his exceptional SB's. This year he is pushing for a promotion which I think will happen at the AS break. That's usually when teams want to shuffle players around unless there is an injury.

Tyler Thornberg draws a tough rookie 1st start against the Blue Birds tonight. How does he fare? Can the Jays hit without being given the pitch in advance (aka On the road).
