I currently have 2 offers from the same owner trying to acquire Joey Votto.
The first one is his Matt Garza, Hunter Pence, and Dustin Ackley for my Votto and Max Scherzer.
The second offer is his Anibal Sanchez, Hunter Pence, and Dustin Ackley for my Votto and Scherzer.
I definitely prefer the deal involving Garza, and I assume he is offering Ackley so that I can slide Howie Kendrick over to player first base.
My initial reaction is to accept the deal involving Garza, but I'm just not sure yet. I would like to hear some opinions and if you leave a link I will help you in return.
This is my team:
C - Carlos Santana 1B - Joey Votto 2B - Howie Kendrick 3B - Evan Longoria SS - Dee Gordon OF - Josh Hamilton OF - Matt Holliday OF - Alejandro De Aza util - Lucas Duda util - Brenna Boesch
tough call. you need picthing, but your not getting a big bat in return. im guess votto was your 1st or 2nd pick. i really dont thimk pence even comes close to replacing votto, even if you do get garza in return. i personally wouldnt do it. but if you can get anything for max i guess it wouldnt hurt.
Votto and Pence are very close to the same player in terms of fantasy IMO. Votto just hits a few more home runs. Votto does have the potential to turn a season like he did in 2010 though, but I'm not banking on 37 HR's or 16 SB's at this point.
I don't think deal 1 is so bad. I mean, Pence is an impact player when he gets going and Ackley is very productive. You help your pitching as well.
I'd like it if you got more of a Votto-light player in this but you divest Votto nicely across 3 players here. Scherzer is immensely frustrating to I feel u move a liability there.
I really could go either way on this, but I'm leaning towards accept. My main concern is that you're not getting a player that will truly replace Votto's production. IMO Pence is not similiar in production to Votto. However, he is a quality OF, plus you're getting a solid SP and 2B. I think you're getting enough value from the players you're getting, plus the fact that you get to dump Scherzer
I like deal one... i like votto better than pence, but not by a huge margin and garza is a pretty substantial upgrade over sherzer. ackely makes up the difference between pence and votto.

i honestly think you can get a better pitcher then garza and a better hitter then ackley for votto. Votto is a top 10 player in fantasy i would aim higher.

Not sure how much this will help as other big players were involved, but Votto and Pence swapped places in a deal in our keeper league 2 days ago. The full trade was a 2-4 deal: Votto (signed thru 2015) and Bautista (2014) -FOR- Halladay (2013) Teixeira (2013) Pence (2014) and Andrus (free to sign at any length). caveat: I'd be more reticent to trade studs like Votto in a more conservative keeper league. Our league's makeup and keeper scheme ensure plenty of trading and it was already the 4th time Bautista swapped teams, 3rd time for both Doc and Pence, and 2nd deal involving Votto this year (and it's been by far the slowest trading year we've had in a longtime). Please consider this when trying to gauge Votto's worth in your scheme. Personally I don't see you getting enough in either deal but of the two prefer the trade with Garza.
