Why doesnt anyone like Barry Bonds.??

I am in a league where walks are one of the roto categories. Should I keep him? I feel that him winning me that category and helping me in HR's means I should definitely keep him rather than trading for a guy like Vlad (also an injury risk) who will help me across the board, but not win any cat's outright for me.

That's a good point, and a lot of that depends on the rest of your lineup. I would still move him if I could just because of all the questions surrounding him at the moment.

He is golden if you are counting walks. That is a while different story.

all of you guys are pretty accurate in giving reasons why hes not THAT valuable in leagues which dont have walks as a category. but i think that there's another significant reason- people usually dont wanna draft players that they dont like personally and most people think that Bonds is a lying, arrogant *expletive* :-P

what i meant is that Bonds is simultaneously the best and the most disliked player in baseball, which says a lot...
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

there are four main reasons-
1) Hes an old geezer

2) He can no longer round second base without poppin some viagra pills

3) unlike his great years with the pritates, his height is now shorter than his width

4) Hes never seems as happy as bob then enzyte guy when HE takes his pills....

Wow. I was gonna say "not another I hate Barry" thread. But all of you have good takes about the guys fantasy value.

Personally, my only concern is is his age. The "scandal" won't affect his #'s. Age, at some point, will catch up with him.

THREE REASON

1)He's taken steroroids and it is obvious, he has stopped since testing will begin and injuries will nag him throughout the season as it has to other roid boys(Mcgwire,Canseco)

2)He's an ass

3)If he plays a full season, he will walk 150-200 times which is bad for his owners cuz walks dont mean shit in most leagues...........

Bonds is the most feared hitter in the game right now. He's huge, knows the strike zone and his bat is still very quick despite his age. Imagine if he was in the Yankees lineup. Bonds is the Babe Ruth of our era.
