Best Catching Option ROS? WHIR 100%

Postby war106 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 7:04 pm

This is a 6X6 head to head league with standard categories plus OPS as 6th category.

Which catching option would you want for the rest of the season?

Nick Hundley
Ramon Hernandez
Ryan Doumit

For the second half of seasons, I have the following phrase: when it is close, I like having catchers who don't catch. Catchers tend to tire more than other players to the end of the year; Ryan Doumit, on this list, will catch and play OF and DH (and maybe a little 1b). He may only play 120 games (does a catcher generally play more?) and is the best of these options.

Hundley would be my pick. He had an insane second half last year, and he's starting to look like that guy again. Hernandez will cede time to Rosario as the season progresses, and I have no faith in Doumit, let alone in a cavernous park.

I like doumit the best there. When healthy he hits for a high average and as mentioned earlier he gets the benefit of not always catching.
