my staff is pretty bad. i just gave up 2 closers, santiago and aceves for billingsley and phil hughes.
5x5 keeper auction league
il be able to keep billingsley next year for 9 dollars

either no one won here or you might have "lost." format looks like some type of mixed league.

aceves has been awful. he barely got that save yesterday (or maybe two days ago). santiago looks like a pretty good closer option. so you gave up at least one good source of saves. santiago might be the best player in this deal. i don't know if you can start hughes in a mixed league. maybe he will flourish outside of ny like ian kennedy. i am not a fan of billingsley. he's like a nolasco/scherzer type of player for me. he can blow up at any time. i would bet that if you released billingsley into the auction next year that you could buy him back for a dollar.

yes its a mixed league
we have an inning minimum, not a limit(its 1300)
my staff isnt that good
we start 9 pitchers daily with only 2 bench pitchers
last year i suffered from not carrying alot of starters(no chance at k's)
last year i was unlucky with mt closers(injurys) cant do anything about it

my current staff is
felix hernandez
shaun marcum
bud norris
erving santana
hiroki kuroda(just picked up off waivers taking a chance with him)
barry zito
volquez(just picked up as well for k's)
closers are: aceves, santiago, myers, rodriquez(was)

after the trade im left with 2 closers but i am biding hard on scott downs who will now be closing for laa
and the way i see it aceves and santaigo could lose their job any day now

by the way. i like my offense but they seem to be starting out slow( ellsburys injury isnt helping)

in a daily league, there is almost no way you're going to run out of spots for your starting pitchers. that means you can almost certainly start all four (or more) relief pitchers in the RP/P spots. i think that's a generally good idea because SV is 1/5 of the pitching categories. unless you pick up more closers from waivers or the free agent pool, you're missing out on two sources (although aceves really does seem to suck) of SV. and in your case, myers is probably SP eligible. you should might want to try to fill out four closers or middle relief guys (maybe a high K guy like chapman) and myers at SP while still being able to start all your starting pitchers.

now that i know you picked up kuroda from waivers, i think you made a bad deal. kuroda, IMO, is significantly better hughes or billingsley. i think that hughes is definitely waiver/FA fodder. and i wouldn't be surprised if billingsley will soon become waiver/FA fodder. you could have speculated on guys better than the two pitchers you received off waiver/FA (good matchups or maybe guys like milone, parker, hammel, etc.) without giving up saves.

anyway, that's just my thought. and i particularly dislike billingsley.
