I knows its a bit of a sell low buy high, by selling Votto for Hamilton, but it would also help my roster flexibility a bit. The offer is my Votto for his Josh Hamilton
My Roster 12-team league h2h, keep-3 (give up draft pick of round selected) Batter Scoring: R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG Pitching Scoring: W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, QS
C - Chris Iannetta 1B - Joey Votto 2B - Brandon Phillips 3B - Brett Lawrie SS - Derek Jeter OF - Hunter Pence OF - JD Martinez OF - Jordan Schafer Utility - Mark Teixeira Bench - Mike Aviles DL - Victor Martinez
SP - Mat Latos SP - Yu Darvish RP - Jose Valverde (closer) RP - Heath Bell (closer) P - Hector Santiago (closer) P - Adam Wainwright P - Jordan Zimmerman Bench - Matt Garza Bench - Ubaldo Jimenez Bench - Jarrod Parker Bench - Ross Detwiler DL - Kyle Farnsworth
If you are ready to gamble on Hamilton being healthy for the whole year (which he is not known to be) then by all means go for positional flexibility. However, Votto is the stronger piece here. If you could squeeze another player out of the other manager (a low end arm?) that might make it a little more helpful to your cause.

I'd agree that you're giving up value here with this deal. However Hamilton is definitely a guy that could easily put up the type of elite numbers you expect from a Votto. I might try to work to even out the value a bit (still might end up selling low/buying high but you could make it closer) but if you traded them straight up I can't sit here and say you were wrong. Hamilton is killing it and playing for a contract. Votto looks like he's pressing, which you hope he works through it (I have him in my main league), but it's not a sure thing he gets right soon. He could end up having a bad year (bad for him would still be very good numbers just no where near his caliber) as he presses too hard to earn his new money. It happens.
Hamilton is in a walk season, but I just don't trust him to stay healthy all season. I would not trade Votto for Hamilton unless I am receiving another pretty decent piece.

Scherzer?
Scherzer is talented enough as a lower end guy that yeah, I think you could get him with Hamilton if you press the injury history bit.

Oh and to add to mine... I would not trade Votto (who takes up my Util spot since I have Pujols) for Hamilton in my league.
but like I said I can't say that's a terrible trade or anything.

Yeah but if he goes to San Diego or San Fransisco keeping Hambone with a 3 might not be as good as Votto with a 1. Also he's got a lot more useful career ending injury risk, IMO. I don't think that sways me much unless he resigns with the Rangers.
