Any wisdom on this one? Just need an honest assessment either way. I worry that Ethier might go into his post-hot-slump for two months. On the other hand, Avila and Delmon aren't lighting the world on fire (well, Delmon might be in a different way)
I would rather have the Avila +Young for Ethier deal, personally. Ethier is a player that's put up very good numbers before (so his recent streak isn't just some fluky hot streak by a marginal player). I think he could easily be a .290-25-100 guy this year with a chance for more if he stays healthy. Avila's .375 Babip last season helped hide his 28% K rate. He's a solid catcher, but unless he gets lucky again he won't put up those R or RBI numbers and his average won't be a plus either.
