Have ? about Stanton, but I win this trade right? WHIR

Postby lyons595 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 9:08 am

I discussed this trade last night with another owner and feel like I can get a real steal, but I'm slightly worried baout Stanton. BUT, I should still pull the trigger, right?

I give:
Adam Dunn, Branden Walden, Howie Kendrick

I get:
Giancarlo Stanton, CJ Wilson, Javy Guerra

ESPN, h2h each, 12 team, 4 RP max, daily roster changes. Cats: standard 5x5 plus OPS, QS. Non-keeper. I stream 2-4 SP weekly.

C Mike Napoli
1B Joey Votto
2B Howard Kendrick
3B Jose Bautista
SS Jose Reyes
OF Michael Bourn
OF Shane Victorino
OF Josh Willingham
UTIL Adam Dunn
Bench Michael Morse (DL)
Bench Carl Crawford (DL)

SP Shawn Marcum
SP Wandy (stream)
SP Stream
SP Johnny Cueto
RP Craig Kimbrel
RP Jordan Walden
RP Joe Nathan
RP Brandon League

At first I thought yes then I saw your lineup and thought no then I saw your pitching and thought C.J could be a real asset especially when Alberto starts hitting again. I would accept it seems you have some offenese to give for some much needed pitching

UPDATE:
The other owner backed out on Wilson, but is willing to do Wainright. I'm still thinking "yes" for this deal. Thoughts?

I wouldn't, Wainwright is to injury prone and Dunn looks to be back to his old self.

I'd do it even if Wainwright replaces Wilson, but I'd certainly try for Wilson. Stanton will still hit 40 bombs. Dunn can't be worse than last year, but that doesn't mean he's back to his "old self" -- really, he's not. He's a human fan.

Did you mean Jordan Walden (LAA) instead of Branden Walden? He just got demoted to set-up man. Anyway, Guerra is apparently getting closer to losing his closer job. I'm not so sure about that, but you've got enough closers.

I would take Stanton over Dunn or Kendrick in a heart beat. I'm not very concerned about Stanton's start. I would ultimately do the deal, even if it's Wainwright instead of CJ Wilson, because you get Stanton.

So you're doing the streaming thing but locking down SV for pitching. Do you even care about getting back a CJ Wilson or Wainwright? I think the key here is to get Stanton in order to improve your power categories. You've taken a potential major hit with the death of Carl Crawford. Finding a decent 2B will be difficult. I would forgo receiving a SP and try to prevent losing Kendrick while acquiring Stanton. Give up Dunn, Willingham, any SP, or an elite closer (or multiple) since you can find saves throughout the year.
