J. Zimmerman/M. Holliday for J. Votto

I was offered Jordan Zimmerman (SP) and Matt Holliday (OF) for Joey Votto (1B). This is the first year of our keeper league. Just looking for any tips, I'm leaning more towards not taking this trade, but I will include his roster as well, to see if a counter-offer is plausible. Thanks for any and all help!

I'd ask for CarGo instead. Wouldn't do the trade as offered

Ask for CarGo instead of Holliday? It's just so hard to give up my first round pick. And you know that Votto will put up MVP-type numbers this year. He's great in a keeper league. The real value is whether or not Zimmerman is going to turn out to be a star.

We can keep up to 8 (5 position players, 3 pitchers), and whichever round the "kept" players were drafted in the previous year (say, 7th), that team's pick two rounds higher (the 5th, in this instance), will be used on the keeper player.

But, as for the original trade.. Votto I would not give up if you can keep.

You drafted him 1st round right? Is he still a keeper next year 1st round? or non-keeper now?

Wouldn't do it as is. Might not even do it if Cargo replaces Holliday, but it would at least be reasonable.

what is "OUT" and did you list all the categories? there are 11 hitting and 12 pitching categories.

the other owner looks to be buying votto cheap and selling zimmermann high and offering a historically elite-ish player in Holliday to get you to bite. it doesn't look like the other owner is trying to move pujols. i would either stay put or try to flip the situation and buy pujols with one of your historically elite pitchers and sell high on another guy. put pujols in util. peralta should not be your util. but i don't think this guy is trading pujols. i don't think he's going to trade any elite hitter. his roster suggests that he's bent on stacking his lineup with more elite players on offensive and speculating on and streaming pitchers all season long. the guy is offering his best/second best SP to you. you don't need more pitching because your pitching looks fine. i think a trade with this guy might be difficult.

Thanks joven! I must have added a cat there... Regardless, thanks to your suggestion, I've now made it my mission to go after Pujols. Being a keeper league, however, there's no way you'd trade votto for Pujols... Right?
