Need K's & W's; top tier 1b as bait

Postby tuffgong71 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 8:09 pm

This forum rocks! Can't believe how much you guys have helped me so I am going to the well once again. I am in a 12 team 5x5 roto league. I am in first place by a lot but other teams are gaining ground. This is only my 2nd season and I finished 11th out of 12 last year. This league has been going for awhile and I don't know the other players very well. I want to propose some realistic trades w/o pissing people off, maybe you guys can help.
I am first in all 5 offensive categories but I am last in K's and about mid-pack in W's. I also have Konerko, Teixeira, and Billy Butler with only 1 utility spot so every day one of them is on the bench.

C - Posey
1b - Teixeira, Konerko, Butler
2b - Kipnis, Altuve
3b - Beltre, C. Jones
ss - D Gordon
of - Kemp, A. Jones, M Cabrera, J Schafer, C. Crawford (DL)

sp - C Lee, R Romero, C Lewis, J Cueto, C Billingsley
rp - H Santiago, J Guerra, J Johnson, Farnsworth (DL)

I am 1st of 12 in all 5 offensive categories, t4th in Wins, 2nd in Saves, 11th in K's, 3rd in ERA, 3rd in WHIP - 1st overall but my lead is shrinking.

Do I need more balance? Should I trade a 1b (yes), if so which one and who should I target? Should I just be patient? Your advice helps newbies a ton!

I would go for broke and trade Tex. Konerko and Butler should fill in admirably (with less of an average drag), so you might as well go for as high of an SP as you can get to help support Lee. Your pitching needs help with depth, so a trade would be wise.

Thanks! Great advice. That is actually kind of what I was thinking since I am not a huge Tex fan anyway. Waht kind of pitcher should he bring in> Like I said, I don't want to get laughed at or piss people off and I am kind of new. I mean, is a Tex for Kershaw swap straight up worth offering? Aim lower? How low? Halladay, Verlander, Lincecum? Thanks again for the response.

Kershaw/Halladay probably won't work. I would just look at ADP and see if you can find a comparable pitcher that's available. If you know a Yankee fan, perhaps you'll be able to uptick what you'll likely get back normally.

Need K's & W's; top tier 1b as bait (UPDATED)

Postby tuffgong71 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 8:11 pm

Man! So far I have offered Teixeira straight up for: Kershaw, Halladay, Lincecum, Hamels, and Weaver and got turned down for all. I have not heard back on Sabathia but I am expecting a no. I have offered Tex in the trades; Konerko is off to a hotter start but Tex is the higher rated player. I have had no counters (oh, except Ted Lilly and Carlos Lee for Tex!)
How low should I go? Tex for C.J. Wilson? I like Matt Cain but I need K's and W's not WHip and ERA. What do you guys think?
