Daniel Bard VS The Yankees

With the Red Sox recent losses against the Yankees should I consider sitting Bard on the bench for todays game to protect my ERA and WHIP or should I roll the dice and leave him in the Starting Line-up.

I could use some perspective. I've always been a fan of Daniel Bard and truly believe he can be a great pitcher so I normally lean towards rolling the dice on him, but I don't want to sacrifice ERA and WHIP in a tight end of the week contest.

Any thoughts on how he'll fare vs the Yankees?

Looks like the game got Postponed, but I would still like some insight on Bard, though maybe it won't matter? There's some talk of moving him to the bullpen.

I would definitely bench Bard against the Yankees, but yes it looks like Bard will be skipped and will return to the bullpen.



If you are not 100 percent confident in a starting pitcher, dont start him against the yankees/redsox/rangers/rockies.

Bard will miss next 2 starts (including last nights) and shipped to the pen for spot duty, from which he might not emerge as a starter again, judging how that bullpen is. Unless you need a closer, I would sell high right now

Seriously. Even as a starter, youre not sure what youre getting, but Bobby V said it last night, he'll be heading for the pen for a spell, and even then he was spotty last season in late inning duty
