Time To Panic or Ride It Out???? (WHIR)

Postby X-Factor611 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 10:42 am

Currently I am in 8th place in my 12 team money league.

I know it's still early in the season, and it's a marathon and not a sprint but i feel like i need to shake things up.

Am i being too impatient? or should i look to make a move or two.

My Roster is as follows

C- Ruiz (PHI)
1B- Hosmer (KC)
MI- R Weeks (MIL)
MI- Tulowitzki (COL)
3B- Lawrie (TOR)
OF- J Upton (ARI)
OF- A Jones (BAL)
OF- JD Martinez (HOU)
DH- Ackley (SEA)

BENCH: Trout, Alonso, Gardner(DL), Smoak, Bourgeois (plans to be dropped)

SP- Kershaw (LA)
SP- Gonzalez (WAS)
SP- Haren (LAA)
RP- Jansen (LA)
RP- Betancourt (COL)
BN- Peavy (CHI)
BN- Sale (CHI)
BN- Romero (TOR)
BN- Robertson (NYY)
BN- Nicasio (COL)
BN- Luebke (SD)

My league has weekly rosters and the scoring is 5X4 (AVG, R, RBI, HR, SB X W, ERA, SV, K's)

I'm thinking about punting in saves (had Wilson, but TJ surgery ended that) and going with 2 setup guys who can rack up K's and keep my ERA down.

Anything i can look to upgrade? I would like to upgrade cather and/or Middle infeld, but im not sure who to deal.

any help would be appreciated!

Is this a keeper league? Otherwise I'd dump Trout...not worth it to spend a roster spot on him when he won't help you out until much later in the year.

What is the waiver wire looking like? I'd like to see what kind of replacements we could find for Trout/Bourgeois/Smoak/Ruiz.

The offense in general looks good though. Tulo and Upton are both down a bit right now...and Hosmer even more so. Nothing you can do about those 3 except wait. Pitching looks pretty nice as well.

I think I would ride it out. It's only a matter of time before Upton gets back to raking and Hosmer regains form.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

some of the players on the WW are...
Reimold
Pierzinski
Rasmus
De Aza
Nunez (NYY)
Fowler
Cain (KC)

Loshe
Humber
Lilly

no its not a keeper league but i feel like Trout will be called before June 1st.

thanks for your input.

With Ruiz at catcher, I would just be riding the hot bat. Right now, that's AJ. Get him in your lineup for today.

Other guys I'd like on my bench over what you have are:

Reimold
De Aza
Rasmus

in that order. Reimold has always been missing out on the ABs...the power and even a bit of speed has always been there. If he gets 500 ABs, except 20+ HRs and close to 10 SBs.

Drop Ruiz, Smoak, and Bourgeois for AJ/Reimold and then one of De Aza/Rasmus ASAP.

I'd also add Lohse...this could be a career year for him. Drop Nicasio for him.

Reimold - Drop Alonso
Pierzinski - Drop Ruiz
Rasmus
De Aza - Drop Bourgeois
Nunez (NYY)
Fowler
Cain (KC)

Loshe - Drop for Robertson
Humber
Lilly

Since this is a weekly league, then I don't think you need a non-closer on your team. Instead I would look to add 2 start pitchers whenever you can.
