I think I'm going with Carpenter first, and then Aviles. Might as well right the hot hand with Matty C. Berkman is on the DL, and Carpenter has looked pretty good at the plate. His only downside is that it's most likely a temporary berth of ABs, while Aviles seems to have the SS job on lockdown for Boston, and has a decent enough bat to use as a fill-in. Plus, the nice thing about Aviles is that he also qualifies at 2B/SS in ESPN leagues, so you could even hold on to him as Johnson insurance, since he is a very streaky hitter.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Thanks for the advice. I like the flexibility of Aviles, and it appears that he's a more permanent fixture in his teams lineup then Carpenter. For that reason, I think I'm leaning towards dropping Duffy & picking him up. Any other opinions would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks!

I think that is the right decision. That's what I would do too.

I think I would go with Carpenter. You don't need a season from a guy just a few weeks (hopefully). So play the hot hand. When Carpenter cools off drop him and pick up the next hot guy.
