I am in a 12 team7x7 H2H League. The 7 batting cats are R,RBI,HR,SB,AVG,OPS,K. I sent the email below to the commish of my league. We have exchanged emails and agree on what will happen Sunday (I'll let you all know later what we decided). I'd like to know what you all think.
I've got a question for you as League Commish. I am in the following situation (have a look at the matchup if you want the excat details). But, it looks like I've lost most batting categories this week (3-11 HR, 14-32 RBI, 61-93 TB). However I might win K's if I sit all my players on the bench on Sunday (and it would protect my average). I don't intend to do it Saturday as I may stage a miracle comeback. But I am considering it for Sunday. Now, it strikes me as not really being 'in the spirit of the game'. What do you think? will I get called names for doing it? Is it an acceptable strategy?
Advice appreciated as I don't want others saying he pulled a dirty trick on me .....
I see nothing wrong with protecting the cats you think you might actually win. I sit guys all the time when they might threaten a close cat and I don't need their production to win elsewhere. If you were sitting guys in order to lose somehow then that's different, but you're not, and anyone who has a problem with what you're doing is probably an insufferable wanker.
I have no problem with it and I often do it on Sundays. You would sit a pitcher on a bad matchup, so why is it any different to sit batters if you cant get any more Ks or your looking to protect your AVG. I would rather someone over manage and do everything they can to win then to just set their lineup Week 1 and let it ride all year.
We (My league Commish and I) decided that it didn't feel right to drop every single player for a Sunday matchup. It just felt a bit against the 'spirit of the game'.
I say sit 'em, why don't you go back and ask the commish what he would do if he had the pitching cats won, but he had 5 starters throwing on Sunday, but if he started them and they got bombed he could lose his grasp on the week.

Exactly. If I can sit a few guys for matchups on a Tuesday why cant I sit more guys based on match ups on Sunday?
I am in a fantasy head to head league . The league allows 5 transactions per week and no maximum number of innings or starts. Every week, if my pitchers get off to a hot start, the opposition drops their worst pitcher and picks up 5 more starters, in an attempt to win Wins, QS and K's at the total expense of ERA/WHIP.
So you are definitely not the only person to encounter bad etiquette.

In my league, wire pick-ups are $5 each. Streaming gets pretty costly, so it's not a problem.
