Best SP on the waiver wire

Postby achiappanza » Fri Apr 20, 2012 9:22 am

I'm interested in people's thoughts on which of these guys you favor for the rest of the year. Pitching categories are Saves, Outs, K's, ERA, and WHIP.

Derek Holland
Jaime Garcia
Colby Lewis
Ryan Dempster
Kyle Lohse
Edwin Jackson
Jake Peavy
Bartolo Colon

I'd probably be dropping Ubaldo Jimenez. Wish Wainwright would stop getting shelled. Could drop Billingsley, but he's going OK.

Holland pitching for a winner can't go wrong there.

Best SP on the waiver wire

Might consider dempster here. Right now he's dominant. I have no delusions that he will be this good all year. But even so, he will be a 190 k pitcher and if there's one thing it's tough to find on the wire, it's k's.

Note that wins isn't a category for us. Why do you guys like him so much? His career ERA/WHIP/K numbers are nothing fancy. Do you think this is a breakout year?

I also noticed the strikeout numbers for Dempster. Who would you rather drop between Ubaldo and Chad?

Derek Holland
Jaime Garcia (3)
Colby Lewis
Ryan Dempster (1)
Kyle Lohse
Edwin Jackson
Jake Peavy
Bartolo Colon (2)

Those are my top three. Dempster and Colon likely wont sustain it the whole season, but right now they look good.

Help with mine? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=444668

Holland's a former top prospect, has a couple of years experience out of the way, looked great in the second half of last year, racks up strikeouts, and is a lock to win 15 with that Texas offense behind him.
