Hanson / Ike Davis for ARod? WHIR

Postby alexeroberts » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:05 pm

Standard 11 team 5x5 roto league, keep your 5 best. here's my roster:

C Posey
1 Fielder
2 Pedroia
3 Reynolds
ss Castro
MI Hill
CI Davis
5 OF BJ Upton, Boesch, Kemp, Hart, Victorino
U Dunn
8 P - Santos, Hanrahan, Guerra, Kershaw, Beachy, Hanson, Marcum, Morrow,
5 B - Garza, McCarthy, Peavy, Capuano, Sale

With Upton, Dunn and Reynolds, I'm worried a little about my average. And I have 10 SP in a league with 1650 IP limit, which is at least 1 too many. Really only need 8 solid SP. Thinking I can upgrade my offense by doing Hanson / Ike for Arod, but I wonder how much better than Ike Arod will be?
And will Hanson take it to the next level or will he just be solid and only throw 180 IP. Any thoughts appreciated. Will Help in Return...

Trading from a strength is always a good plan. Difference between Ike and A-Rod? like 20 RBI and 25 Runs. Both will give you 25 HR and could be .275 / .280 hitters. Both have slight injury risk. Id see if I could talk the guy into a bit lower SP, maybe Marcum? Unless you prefer to lose Hanson that is. everyone has different rankings. lol

Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...

Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong

From a CI spot I don't feel like A-Rod is really much of an upgrade over Ike, to be honest. In the overall rankings A-Rod's rank is helped by the fact that he's a 3B and Ike's is hurt because he plays 1B. See if the owner of Panda would be willing to move him. And I don't really care for Hanson. I see many DL stints in his future.

thanks this is a great point. i tried to trade reynolds in the deal, no dice. so you're right putting arod as a CI is not getting full value of him.

Mixed about this deal. I'd do it just bc I dont see Hanson really being healthy a full year, and if he is, i cant imagine being as productive as a few years ago..
