I have been offered either feliz, nicasio, smardija, or bauer plus a pick for mike trout. It is a 4 player keeper league. I need to know if you guys think I should make this trade and if so for which pitcher.
Hmm, Feliz and a 6th pick is not bad value depending on how strong your OF options are. If you can keep these guys indefinitely, though, then I'd stick with Trout.
J. Montero C As you can see my outfield is not that great. I can only keep 4 guys come the end of the M. Cabrera 1B year and trout prob. wont be one of them. I think it is possible I can get more value for C. Davis 1B,3b Trout once he gets closer to coming up. D. Murphy 1b,2B,3b H. Kendrick 2B,OF P. Sandoval 3B E. Andrus SS A. Rios OF A. Jones OF D. Viciedo OF B. Gardner OF M. Trout OF N. Swisher OF B. Harper OF L. Cain DH,OF E. Longoria DH,3B E. Jackson SP B. Norris SP C. Sabathia SP C. Luebke SP D. Duffy SP H. Kuroda SP J. Jurrjens SP M. Latos SP S. Santos RP J. Motte RP
You only keep 4? Keep implications mean nothing to me unless you're keeping a much larger percentage of your roster. It's the best four players year over year regardless of 'potential'. Is Trout going to be a better play next season than Cabrera, Sandoval, Longoria or Sabathia? No, he won't. If you can deal him to someone else that gets sucked into the keeper value of a player it's a good move for you. You're improving your roster this yr and for next season (better pick). All that said, I don't really care for the options that he's offering you. I would request a better player in return in addition to that 4th round pick (basically an 8th rounder since you keep 4).
Nice response. You don't think Feliz can crack top 40 sp's? The only reason I have not done the trade is because i'm not sure if Feliz will get an innings limit or not.
I thought I would bring this old topic back up just to use as a learning experience. In retrospect a terrible trade. Looking at his minor league numbers every day and seeing how insanely good he was doing should have been my red flag if any red flag.
I guess the lesson here is sometimes hyped rooks are as good as advertised. So don't let anyone tell you profar or myers can't dominate this year, draft late if you can then follow their minors numbers and adjust accordingly.
I wouldn't beat yourself up too badly about it. Trout and his rookie season were something that no one in baseball has seen before. Even the most optimistic person wouldn't have expected what we saw.
Wieters was going to be the next best thing and while he was good, he wasn't Trout. Same with a lot of other "can't miss" guys. It happens, though looking back I do think you might have been able to get more back, but in a four-team league what ar eyou going to do.
Hopefully, we don't start seeing top prospects overvalued for the next couple of seasons as a result.
