I've been offered Strasburg and Jon jay for Hamilton. Standard 5x5 h2h scoring. I'm kind of against the trade, as I don't think the downgrade to Jay will be worth the upgrade to Strasburg. What do you guys think? Should I offer a counter trade?
I know Strasburg is amazing and all, but that's a very lowball offer for Hamilton. Plus, you're in a H2H league. Just when your playoffs roll around, guess who's not going to be pitching because he's hit his innings limit? Strasburg. Every single redraft H2H Strasburg owner is going to try a version of this move over the next few months.
If he wants Hamilton, either Kinsler or Hanley has to be on the table. Conversely, if he wants to sell Strasburg, he's got to aim a lot lower than Hamilton.
its not an insult but if players are close in value (and they roughly are) id rather have the hitter. And I am saying that knowing full well Hamilton gets hurt. He needs to kick back something a little more than Jay to get Hamilton, but again its a "fair" offer just doesnt make much sense for you to take it as is. Your SP is fine and based on rosters Hamilton would do a lot more for him than Stras would for you.
I'd reject that deal. If he really wants Hamilton he'll be willing to substantially sweeten the pot. Especially now while Hamilton is raking and generally looking fantastic.
Should I offer him any kind of counter trade to strengthen my weak spots? I think my weakest spots are 1B or one of my other IF spots, (CI, MI, IF). Do you guys think I have enough players to spare (perfectly willing to trade Hamilton) to get Cabrera and maybe a lower tier SP like Billingsley?
Okay yeah good deal, he's streaky. I think he's a very underrated fantasy commodity as a 1B/3B power guy this year. I tend to hold on to elite hitters (I tend not to draft any pitchers in the first 4 rounds if I can help it, so that means I don't trade for them at top 4 round value). Even without my bias, though I don't see Strasburg valued as a top 3 round player like most people have Josh.
Well I'm considering something along the lines of Hamilton and Reynolds for Cabrera and Strasburg (Or Billingsley, who I've always liked) . I know that seems a little too much from him (IMO anyway) but if he really wants Hamilton, I figure I'd get as much as I could from him. Think its a reasonable offer with enough return value?
