Trading Lincecum and Strasburg in a package?

Postby outsideoftime » Tue Apr 17, 2012 10:14 am

Yahoo H2H 8 team Keeper League (current record 0-2)
R, HR,RBI, BB, SB, AVG
W, SV, H, K, ERA, WHIP

Opening Statement- I think Lincecum's throwing motion is proving to be unsustainable ala Dontrelle Willis :-t

Acknowledgement- I shouldn't really trade Strasburg until July if at all

For these two guys I was offered Jon Lester and Jon Papelbon along with 70bucks in waiver money that we can use for claiming free agents in a bidding fashion and also use to "pay" for keeping keeper players longer than the limit (3 years).

My roster...

C Joe Mauer (1B)
1B Paul Konerko
2B Dustin Ackley
SS Hanley Ramirez (3B)
3B David Freese
MI Dee Gordon (SS)
CI Eric Hosmer (1B)
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Matt Holliday
OF Alex Gordon
OF Lance Berkman (1B)
Bench Jayson Werth (OF), Brett Lawrie (3B)
DL- Jacoby Ellsbury (OF), Chase Utley (2B), Allen Craig (2B/OF)

SP Cliff Lee
SP Tim Lincecum
SP Dan Haren
SP Yovani Gallardo
SP Adam Wainwright
SP Stephen Strasburg
SP C.J. Wilson
SP Jake Peavy
SP Jeremy Hellickson
SP Lance Lynn
CP Craig Kimbrell
CP Mariano Rivera
CP Sergio Santos
RP Tyler Clippard

Ignoring the waiver money, I'd say you're not getting enough. I believe Timmy is going to regress this year, but you should still be able to get a better player than Papelbon for him based on name value and history. The stras-Lester portion is a wash imo. I can't say if the waiver money is worth enough to offset the player value. It wouldn't be a horrible trade for this year. You might be kicking yourself next year for letting Stras go.

Stras = Lester
Timmy > Paps
