Look, no one is a bigger Trout fan than me.* I look at his minor league history and scouting reports and I see his floor as a top of the order "offense ignitor" type with heaps of SB and runs and a good AVG, and the ceiling of one of the best middle of the order bats in the game. If you really wanted to dream, think Carl Crawford (good version) with more power and a better AVG.
I just don't have confidence in his ability to make anything close to that impact this season. Between the normal adjustment period and the Angels OF situation, I just don't see it. I'm not saying he won't be great, I'm just saying don't roster him this year unless you can handle not getting much out of him.
Dang it. I used up my last move for the week earlier to pick up Downs (missed out on Harper) so now I'm sure to miss out on Trout. Sucks. Pretty insane that the games top 2 hitting prospects get the call in the same day.
I find it sad that lost in all of this brouhaha is the fact that 48 year old Bobby Abreu has been unceremoniously cut by the Devils. The guy has been the consummate pro for the last 30 years and a solid fantasy contributor since the Nixon administration. Sad to see him go.
From Wiki: "Abreu is a two-time All-Star, and has won a Gold Glove Award and a Silver Slugger Award. He has led the league in games (twice), doubles, and triples. Through 2011, he was second among active ballplayers in doubles (554), third in walks (1,419), sixth in stolen bases (393), and ninth in on-base percentage (.397).[3] Through 2011, on defense he was the major league leader among active players in outfield assists, with 134.[1]"

Manager Mike Scioscia and General Manager Jerry Dipoto said Mike Trout, the speedy 20-year-old who was batting .403 at Salt Lake and can play all three outfield spots, will play every day, and there is a good chance he will be inserted into the leadoff spot.

happy trails
I was surprised that trade with Cleveland fell through. Did word ever leak out about what Cleveland was asking for in terms of salary?
people wanting to know who will be better between Mike Trout and Bryce Harper, by mid season people will be asking Bryce who? as long as Trout is up I'm sure he will be getting regular playing time and he will hit. I'm not confident that Bryce will contribute.
