Jennings/Hanley for Jesus Montero/Starlin Castro

Postby Martain » Mon Apr 16, 2012 10:23 pm

What's up everyone, first time on this board, so here's my dillema:

I'm in a daily 10x10 Head-to-Head League (R, H, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, K, BB---W, L, CG, ERA, WHIP, K, K/9, HLD, SV, QS) with 5 keepers a year (kept at last year's draft day auction cost +$2). I was offered this trade:

I get:
Jesus Montero (keeper cost = $3) & Starlin Castro (Keeper cost = $20)
-for-
Desmond Jennings (keeper cost $5) & Hanley Ramirez (keeper cost = $41)

Here's my current lineup:
C Chris Ianetta
1B Prince Fielder
2B Michael Cuddyer
3B Brett Lawrie
SS Hanley Ramirez
OF Ryan Braun
OF Desmond Jennings
OF Chris Young
UT Kendrys Morales
UT Dee Gordon
BN Mark Trumbo
BN Mike Trout
BN/DL B.J. Upton

SP Justin Verlander
SP Colby Lewis
RP Jose Valverde
RP Heath Bell
P Jordan Walden
P Hector Santiago
P Frank Francisco
P Joaquin Benoit
BN Naftali Feliz
BN Danny Duffy
DL Chris Carpenter
DL Doug Fister

When BJ Upton comes off the DL later this week, I've got sort of an overload in OF. I'll most likely be benching Morales for Upton...that being said my biggest weakness (well, other than SP) is at Catcher. Montero will be in a UT slot until catcher eligible, when I will drop Ianetta to stream SP. I'm leaning towards accepting this trade...thoughts?

I like it for you, I'd go for it. Besides what you said, Castro will be more over $20 than Hanley will be worth over $41 in future.

Wouldn't do it... You are possibly giving up the best 2 players in the deal. I don't think there's much of a gap between Castro and Jennings.

FYI I ended up countering Jennings for Montero straight up. In the end it just wasn't worth giving up Hanley's 30/30 potential for Starlin's Batting average.

Good call. It was close but I don't think you would have gotten enough in return for Hanley.
