Kipnis dropped - worth a look on my roster?

Postby Thursday » Sat Apr 14, 2012 11:50 am

Hey Cafe,

Jason Kipnis was dropped in my league. I like this kid, i actually wanted him as my 2B before he was snapped up a round before i was set to take him. I ended up taking Ackley, who's been OK so far, but not amazing. I realize Kipnis is off to a slow start, but is he going to be a stud?

Here's my roster and league specs:

12-team, H2H, 6x6 league (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG., OPS. for hitters, and W, SV, K, Holds, ERA, WHIP for pitchers).

Keeper league, we keep 4:

C - Buster Posey
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Dustin Ackley
3B - Hanley Ramirez
SS - Rafael Furcal
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Curtis Granderson
OF - Brennan Boesch
Util - Shin-Soo Choo
B - Jordan Schafer
B - Ryan Roberts
B - Bryce Harper
DL - Mike Morse
DL - Victor Martinez

SP - Adam Wainwright, Tommy Hanson, Daniel Hudson, Matt Garza, Brandon McCarthy
RP - Huston Street, Mike Adams, Fernando Rodney, Brett Myers, Henry Rodriguez

Leave a link if you'd like help in return.

Your playing a keeper league and both Ackley and Kipnis could be great keepers down the line. I'd probably drop one of your relievers in order to make room for Kipnis. Going on with who to start I'd rotate both Ackley and Kipnis in and out of your starting lineup until one becomes consistent enough to start regularly, maybe go on match-ups or if ones hot. Worst case scenario you can trade one of them this year for another chip you'll need down the line.

I could not have said it better myself. Except I would drop Schafer instead of one of your relievers.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I would drop Schafer for Kipnis. He's a one-cat contributor, you look competitive in steals without him, and his value drops even more when ops is added to the mix.

In a keep 4 this seems like a huge stretch. I do like Kipnis though and think he could still end up chipping in for 15/15+. I would drop Schafer.
