I'm holding on Jones but think he's a legitimate sell high candidate if you're not buying because he still can't take a walk and he performed like this to open 2009 then fall off a cliff. He's young, 5 tool type, went in the 7th-8th round this year, serious owners would definitely be willing to pay up to get him.

He also has terrible plate discipline and he's exactly the type of player that will have really hot streaks and really cold streaks. If you can really sell high then I would do it but you probably need another 2 hot weeks to do it.

Jones has shown a natural growth curve that suggests he can hit 25+ HR and steal 10-15 bases and he has shown he won't hurt you in AVG. I'm fine with selling him high but he was my #18 OF going into the season so I wouldn't sell him without a pretty good deal. The orioles also have a real lineup behind him this year so the R/RBI should be pretty decent.

Hosmer is a great buy low. Dreadful line is driven by BABIP, walking 11% of the time, striking out only 15%.

Ike Davis, Aramis, and JJ Hardy also fall into this camp.

Give him one more start and chances are you won't have to do any buying. You can just pick him up off any waiver wire.

It's exactly what I'm doing. Can't believe I drafted him after all the years of frustration to go through this crap yet again. I'm almost hoping he implodes again so I can drop kick him and never EVER look back.

Not nearly the same camp though. Davis still dealing with Valley Fever? Aram and Hardy are a bit scary due to their propensity for injury.

I was fairly surprised when I looked at the current owned% for Liriano in Yahoo. I think it was north of 30% which is just insanity to me.

2012 Buy Low/Sell High

Postby lastingsgriller » Fri Apr 20, 2012 4:59 pm

If your gonna sell jones, make sure you are getting well above draft day value for him, otherwise hold on tight.

I think he should only be sold for a panda, Santana, Sabathia type.

Someone in my league already dropped Hardy... On waivers till tomorrow, but not even sure he's worth an add. He's been awful

I see more of a flat line when I look at plate discipline and power (a little growth but not much). He'll hit .280 (+/- 10pts), 20 HR's (+/- 5) and 10 (+/- 3) SB's. I will certainly take that on my team but if I can sell high then I definitely will.
