I disagree. The only thing that matters in a trade is who will be better from that point forward. If you think Beltran will be better than Pujols for the remainder of the year, I welcome you to any league I play in.

So you like to beat up on owners you consider inferior? Hmm... Me, I like a challenge, but, to each his own I guess.

If he is healthy yes I think he will outplay Pujols. The difference is I just don't think you will get a 1st round guy for Beltran in many leagues, the injury history is just too recent and too strong. What it really comes down to now is value, Beltran is as good a player as Hamilton but his value is much much lower on the trade market imo so it is hard to really sell high on Beltran compared to Hamilton.

Beltran is also a health risk though. I know he stayed healthy last season, but he has a history and he's also 35 out there now.

I feel dirty for even saying it after tonight, but his stock has to be about as high as anyone right now, right? Part of me feels like this is just his year, playing for a contract, and he's going to put up a monster season. But you always have to worry that he's going to go down with an injury at some point. He's already had back issues. If you could move him for a legit 1st round talent, would you? Or ride him wherever he takes you, be it 50-140-.330 or another 120-game season.

Hamilton owners...what would it take for you to trade him?

Really tough call, like you said it all depends on his health. Right now, you could easily trade him for many first rounders since the majority of first rounders are off to sluggish starts, but you may be kicking yourself if Hamilton does stay healthy.

If I'm selling Hamilton, who should I be looking to get (where do you draw the line and assume his health risk?) Braun? Pujols? CarGo? Someone like that? Or do you look even lower?

Slow start for Votto. Maybe a buy low candidate. How would a deal offer of Tex/Hardy for Votto sound in people's minds?

Im not for selling Hamilton he is a top 3 talent in baseball, health is his only issue, the way he plays the game exposes him to injury, but I would just hold the guy. He seriously can play 120-130 games and still produce top 10 numbers.

now IF im selling, no way am I doing a 1 for 1 type swap. In my league (keeper) Hamilton actually was dealt on Sunday before his monster game, and the seller of Hamilton got a really nice haul.

whole trade was
Hamilton and Bell
for
Cano, Papelbon and Mccutchen

Just came in to write pretty much the same thing. Votto owners, like myself, have got to be frustrated with the lack of power/rbi's. He's not really struggling with a .293 avg and .940 ops, but man I just wish he would hit some bombs. Personally, it would take at least a 2nd rounder + something else (maybe a hot SP like Lynn or a closer) for me to trade him...but I'm really stingy when it comes to trades. Other owners you may be able to get him on the cheap.

I'm trying to boy low on Pujols. Might Butler and Jeter be enough? Gordon and Jeter?
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

For your sake, I hope so.

I'd be shocked if either of those worked.
