I've been hammering out a deal with a league-mate over the course of the last 24 hours. Basically it came down to:
Prince Fielder Mike Morse Adam Wainwright (or Daniel Hudson, or Tommy Hanson)
- for -
Roy Halladay Yu Darvish Paul Konerko
Here's my roster and league specs:
12-team, H2H, 6x6 league (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG., OPS. for hitters, and W, SV, K, Holds, ERA, WHIP for pitchers).
Keeper league, we keep 4:
C - Buster Posey 1B - Prince Fielder 2B - Dustin Ackley 3B - Ryan Roberts SS - Hanley Ramirez OF - Ryan Braun OF - Curtis Granderson OF - Brennan Boesch Util - Shin-Soo Choo B - Mike Morse B - Bryce Harper
SP - Adam Wainwright, Tommy Hanson, Daniel Hudson, Matt Garza, Brandon McCarthy RP - Huston Street, Mike Adams, Fernando Rodney, Brett Myers, Henry Rodriguez
It would really bolster my rotation, possibly making it the best in the league, but am i giving up too much?
Leave a link when helping, so i can help in return.
The one positive that I would like about it is that it gets Morse, who I consider to be a question mark, off your hands and gives you some value in return. Anytime a guy goes to see Dr. James Andrews, it is pretty scary. My only real concern is giving up Fielder. I love Halladay but I would view Fielder as being a little more valuable than him (if this was a hypothetical 1:1 trade offer). Is there any way to work out a deal with him and improve your pitching if you take Fielder out of the deal and he takes Halladay out of the deal?
I am going to say no but it is close. The thing that pushes it to the no side is the 6th category is one that Fielder is really good at. Where as the 6th category for SP won't help you by getting either of those pitchers.
If I was going to do it, I would be dealing Hanson or Hudson (in that order) but I think you would miss all that Fielder will do for you more than you will enjoy what Halladay and Darvish will do for you.
