My Uggla and Castro for his Cabrera and Lee?

Hello, Baseball Gurus!

I am new to fantasy baseball and would like some advice on this trade: my Starlin Castro (SS) and Dan Uggla (2B) for his Asdrubal Cabrera (SS) and Clayton Kershaw (SP)

I think I might actually go for this one. I could use some star pitching and can afford to give up some HR, I think. My only hesitation is that I don't think Cabrera will have anywhere near the season he had last year. If I go by player value alone (fantasypros.com) I would wind up $10 ahead. What do you think, o wise fantasy sages?

I wouldn't take this trade. Your pitching looks great and you would be without a 2B.

Analyzing trades by context-neutral dollar values is a good way to get screwed. Not that this is a bad deal, but once everyone has drafted you need to start looking at trades in terms of "what does my team look like before, what does my team look like after."

In this case, if you believe (like you said) that Cabrera isn't going to come close to his 2011 season, then you'll have a mediocre SS, way less HR but a better AVG/SB from your 2B slot with Kendrick there, and one of the best pitchers in the game.

I would never trade Kershaw for that, so yea, take it.
Kendrick is a fine 2B, and Cabrera is ok at SS.

Yes I would take it.Even though your pitching is stacked, Pitching is easier to trade later to shore up any positions and Uggla, even though he gives you good HR and RBI is streaky, low batting average player. Kershaw is a legit top 5 SP.

I guess I waited too long. He is now offering Lee instead of Kershaw in the same trade. Am I a sucker to take it?

He is also offering Strasburg for Uggla strait up. I tried to get him to take Uggla for Weaver, but no bite. However, this might be the better deal.

Do you mind posting his full roster? I'm guessing he's looking to upgrade 2B and/or SS but I'm curious what his whole team looks like, to see if there are other trade options that make sense for you.
