Gordon/Lohse for Cuddyer/Masterson ??

Postby mm92280 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 7:35 pm

I'm looking to improve my starting pitching, as it is looking a little weak after the trio of Hamels, Gio Gonzalez and Jamie Garcia, so I've been looking at offering Alex Gordon and Kyle Lohse to another owner for Cuddyer and Justin Masterson. While I hate to lose Gordon, as I had him last year and think he's still a bit underrated with some owners, Cuddyer wouldn't be a bad starting outfielder at all and Masterson would definitely be a nice step up from Lohse. BTW, this is a 20 team H2H keeper league. Scoring cats are below:

For scoring, we count: AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB, OPS, Assists ; for pitching: W, ERA, WHIP, K, CG, SV, Holds

Here is my lineup, as it now stands:

C: Carlos Santana (C,1B)
1B: Adam Dunn (1B, DH)
2B: B. Zobrist (2B, RF)
3B: K. Youkilis (3B)
SS: Y. Escobar (SS)
LF: A. Gordon (LF)
CF: Y. Cespedes (CF)
RF: C. Gonalez (RF, LF, CF)
Util: B. Boesch (RF, LF)
Util: L. Cain (RF)
Bn: W. Betemit (3B)
Bn: B. Ryan (SS)

SP: C. Hamels
SP: G. Gonzalez
SP: J. Garcia
SP: K. Lohse
SP: E. Volquez
SP: AJ Burnett
RP: D. Storen
RP: M. Melancon
RP: B. Fuentes
RP: J. Peralta

Thanks!

Yeah, I would probably make that trade if I were you, though losing Gordon stinks. I wish you could get someone a little better than Masterson in the deal, since Cuddyer is a bit dull. However, like you said, he fills in okay as an outfielder and Masterson is better than Lohse.

Masterson isn't that much above Lohse to trade Gordon.

I think I would stand pat. I kind of like Lohse this year (although he it pitching much better than I think he will) and I like Gordon a lot more than Cuddyer.

This was sort of my thought when I was originally considering this deal. I orginally offered him Gordon/Lohse for Cuddyer/Masterson/Derek Holland to test the waters and he rejected it and said it "wasn't even close". I can understand him not wanting to give up SP depth, though I don't totally agree with the "not close" part. So, I've considered Gordon/Lohse for Cuddyer/Masterson as a 2nd offer. Unless someone convinces me otherwise, then I'm probably not going to do it.
