Beachy by 10 miles. I wouldn't draft Hellickson in a mixed league. One game against the Yankees isn't going to change that.

What is the cause for the semi negativity towards Hellickson? If I remember correctly he came up pretty hyped and then produced a pretty solid line last year while in the AL east. 2.95 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP is pretty excellent. Is it the AL East and the poor K rate last year the drags him down in some eyes?

His peripherals have tanked since his 2010 AAA season. K/BB is terrible, can't get strikeouts, plays in AL East. Relying almost entirely on the defense which has never really been sustained by anyone before, at least not nearly to this extent. In short: he had a 4.78 SIERA last season. That's really bad. SIERA the best predictor of future ERA, much moreso than ERA itself.

Hellickson is underrated by 'experts' but I still like Beachy more. Hellickson will see his peripherals improve this year but his bottom line will get worse.

I'll take the pitcher that can pitch past the 5th inning on a consistent basis.
I'll let you "experts" figure out who that pitcher is.

Beachy made it to the 6th inning in all but 3 of his starts last year. Not bad for a rookie.
I'll take the pitcher that struck out 57 more batters in 47 less innings.
Seriously, look at these numbers: 28.6 K%, 7.8 BB% versus 15.1%, 9.3%. It's a pretty wide gap in skill.
